Guys,
I have looked through my Government issue M37 maintenance books and cannot find any torque spec for the fasteners on the manifolds. There is one picture that states "assemble in order shown" but no torque value is given. Help. Thanks. :)

TM 9-1840A (1952) for the Engine states: "15 to 20 pound-feet" on page 104.

Remember do not over tighten the two outside ends. Snug is good until they set through heating up and cooling. Main reason the manifold cracks on either or both ends is from over tightening these.

Thanks for the reminder. Such fragile exhaust manifolds for such a tough truck. My original was cracked right in half. I was amazed how thin the casting was. With these things being priced like gold I would hate to ruin one. :(

Sounds interesting. Is it going to be more of a "header style" in design?Good luck. Make sure to post a pic of the finished project. :)

the design is still in the works. Some kind souls with more experience than I are helping me with tuning the lengths of the pipes. So based on what they suggest and what I can get to fit, I ought to come up with something interesting. Definitely will be documenting the whole process. Stay tuned.
