I have a '54 M37 (non-running) and a '55 Pontiac (also non-running) that I need to have taken to my daughter's place in Lavonia, GA. Is there anyone on the forum who is up to the task?

www.steelsoldiers.com in the transportation section of the forum, seems like a lot of the MV owners on that site have connections with guys running flatbed semi trucks around to move 2.5 and 5 ton trucks around and can use backhauls...

The HCEA used to have a transportation section on thier forum, but their website is getting redesigned and they are running a stripped down forum right now, otherwise I would say to check in wtih them...

As for relocation, yes. I've got a line on a property in Athens, GA, about 85 miles from my daughter's place. I've sold the Pontiac to my son-in-law, but he hasn't been able to pick it up yet due to heavy job duties. I figure if I can get them to his place, he can help me get the M running and then tinker with the Pontiac all he wants.

Right now, the ol' lady is driving me nuts with packing up all her trinkets, and she's got hundreds of 'em...all very fragile.

I used USHIP to get my truck, it's like ebay for shippers (they bid on the job and you get to select the best deal). I got a great deal from a local guy and was very happy. My story is on their website.

Athens sounds good... Clinto (from Steelsoldiers) lives there and not only has a nice shop (hint hint), but he is the organizer of the Steelsoldiers rally in October that is held in that area...
There are several folks in that area (ok, the Atlanta-Athens corridor) who have M37 and/or Power Wagons so your rig will have good company...

That's one of the "reasons" I chose that area. (Of course, the missus doesn't need to know that. She's just happy to be closer to our daughter without actually camping on her doorstep. We'll be close enough to visit on weekends, etc., but not so close as to have grandkids ringing the doorbell every 5 minutes.

The place I'm hoping to get has a 4-bedroom house, a barn, and a workshop on 1 acre of dirt. The "barn" wouldn't be classified as such by an Illinois farmer, though. It's only slightly bigger than a 2-car garage.

We have always had great results posting on the yesterdays tractor website hauling schedule. Many truckers check it daily looking for back haul items.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions and/or advice...especially to Cabell. I got a whole bunch of bids from U-Ship and picked the best one. My truck and "used-to-be-my" '55 Pontiac will leave here for GA on Tuesday evening. Now, I just have to get my butt in gear and follow it!
