I see that a standard oak 1x3 will fit as the seats and back racks. The cover supports and cross members look to be a 5/4 board. Is oak correct for both? I have a local lumber source or the Home D. Any ideas on the dimensions to get the correct height?

White oak is the correct wood for troop seats. I do not have the messurements though because my troop seats are gone.

Cabell has this info on cargo box wood sizes on his web site. These are the dimentions I followed. Carter

I used Cabels dims when I did mine. Also you might want to consider stainless bolts for no rust problems. Also 1/8 inch router bit to break the sharp edge. mount all your wood parts and when you are finished take it apart and label with tags and paint or stain all then reasemble. Hope this helps.

seat, driver side are 3.5"x77" (use 1"x4"x8' boards and cut to length)
seat, passenger side with rumble seat are 3.5"x61.5" (use 1"x4"x6') otherwise use same dimensions as used on the left side.

seat, passenger side jump are 3.5"x?? (use 1"x4"x6' board and cut to lengths)

I just finished my troop seats about two weeks ago. I got my Oak pre-cut, pre-drilled, and the edges rounded off from Midwest Military. All I had to do is paint it and install it.

Thanks for all the info. I checked into MWM, but could not rationalize buying when I have a wood shop. Time vs. money. The odd ball thing to me is that the uprights/cross members are 1 9/16 x 1 1/8 and are they made out of oak unpainted?

Generally, all troop seat/cargo cover frame components were painted the same color as the truck unless camo, in which case they were just OD. (The ones I drove in the AF, anyway, were painted blue to match the trucks.)

Thanks! We seen a few trucks with natural oak (no paint) which is probably what we'll do.

Does anyone know of a source for the cover bows? That's the 1 9/16 x 1 1/8 inch lumber listed in the specs? Oak ballisters from railings are 2x2x42" but the cross bows are longer than that. What did you use for the bows?
