AL166 rotor ?

Post by Wes »

I went to my local parts store with the NAPA part number AL166 looking to buy a new rotor. The rotor they brought me was not even remotely close to the old one on my truck right now. It had the right number on the box and when he looked it up in the book AL166 was larger than the one I had in my truck, and it had a "wing" on it. Then of corse he asked me what it was for. I hate that because when I tell them their eyes usually roll back in their heads. They look at me like I'm a kook and tell me they don't carry parts for that. Whats the deal, did they change the number?

Quite possibly! NAPA numbers do change aevery now and then. Approach "the old guy" at your NAPA store and tell him you need a rotor for a 230 cu in Dodge flathead 6 cyl in the 1960s era. All the Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth/Desoto engines used the same points, condenser, and rotor in their 6-banger engines. "The old guy" should be able to help you and he won't look at you like you just fell off the turnip truck. :)
