Can someone tell me or show me photos how the passenger side jerry can holder works? My truck didn't come with one. From what I can gather, I need two rear brackets and a front bracket and this bolts to the standard lower can holder that is used on M38s and other vehicles. So I need 3 m37 specific parts and 1 lower can mount that is universal. Are the lower fender struts the same on each side, or do I need a different part for the inboard and outboard mounts?

There are a lot of vintage jerry cans with the lower can holders on marketplace for cheap, I was thinking of picking one up, but I have no clue what parts I need to mount it to the fender.

My vehicle also came with this bracket which was attached to the window frame. What goes here, or is that the loop for the jerry can strap?

But it looks like the regular M38 holder doesn't have counter-sunk holes on the bottom plate, like on the back. What kind of bolts do you use to mount the jerry can flush on the holder if it's mounted to the bracket on the bottom? Or does the can not interfere with the lower bolt holes? Or is this the wrong lower plate?

Three brackets are needed to support the "Bracket, liquid container, front fender": a single front, and two rear, which are the same, as shown in the Midwest Military set. These are attached to the bracket with 3/8-24 x 1" hex head cap screws (aka bolts), lock washers, and nuts. The Bracket, liquid container is used on multiple vehicles, not just the G741 series (it has a G256 stock no. prefix, so it apparently originated with the T43 tank)

Yes, that is the upper bracket for the liquid container strap.

I'm not a jerry can expert, but is that true only for the vintage USA cans? I have some newer cans that are supposed to be NATO spec, and the seam is recessed into the can body, so the bottom is essentially flat and the can sits on the bolt heads. I put a piece of plywood into the bracket to keep the bolt heads from rubbing into the can bottom, but it's not a great solution.

Yeah, my new 10L (2.5 gal half cans) NATO cans have the recessed seams which was why I had the questions.

I was going to go all modern NATO cans, but my glove box had an original filler spot and surplus cans are a good price so I might be able to get the entire fender kit, plus can, for less than a NATO can.

I can't say for sure on the can bottoms but every one that I have, to include a 1954 NATO can fits w/o hitting the bolt heads.
