Long time lurker. I am in the process of picking up a good-bones 53 M37. I have had M37s for years, but neither runs, so this truck I am looking at will be a runner as part of any deal. Anyway, I have been acquiring parts for the years I have had these trucks. I have some of the M42 parts. I have the side curtains, the table, and a brown M42 placard. So, I am now looking for something that defines what else is in the "kit" and any of the installation papers that show how this "Kit" was installed. I am also interested in any radio install TMs that army units in Vietnam would have used. I do have a PDF of the TM 11-2300-352-15-5 "Installation of Radio Sets AN/VRC-46, AN/VRC-53, or AN/GRC-125 in Truck, Cargo, 3/4 Ton, 4x4, M-37" but I have no idea about Vietnam radios. I have some knowledge of WWII Jeep radios but nothing about Vietnam Radios. I also assume I will need to understand the installation of the 100AMP generator system. So, in short, I am looking for what makes up the M42 kit, copies of the paperwork showing how and where things go, and the 40AMP to 100AMP MWO or Kit paperwork showing what is needed and where it is installed.

You might want to contact John Bizal at Midwest. He had a decked out command truck at one time. Being a dealer all these years, he would know and probably have some, if not all, of the parts you lacked (unless they are made of unobtanium).

Murf is right about contacting John.
For the radio, an RT 524 goes on the driver's side bed bench; however, for easier use some guys put an AN-PRC 77 pack radio in the cab-easy to use and you can remove it if not in use (so some dirtbag doesn't remove it for you).

I have a 1952 M42, my data plate was in the glovebox. It has more holes for cables and radio mounts for sure. There is also a plug with a cap I noticed outside by the wheel arch. I don't have any of the original bits like the table and smaller seat in back.

That would be the slave receptacle that you would use to attach a slave cable (GI Jumper cable) to slave the truck to another unit or to a generator. Since the truck uses so much battery power for the radios and the original Korea era radios where tubed the power drain was great so the truck could be hooked to a generator which would provide 24V DC to the truck to help run things. The generator used less gas than the truck's 6 cylinder would and with the right sandbagging and what not it could be made to be somewhat quiet easer than the truck could be.
