I'm re-assembling an M37B1 and need to know if there's a source for bolts for attaching the front/rear fenders, splash shields, etc., instead of trying to salvage the corroded take off bolts. Or, do y'all just use common hardware store bolts? Thanks for any suggestions.

I got all of my bumper bolts from Fastenal. Nothing special unless you're doing a Judge-worthy rig, then you'd have to find the correct washers, etc.

There are suppliers who carry some or all of the fasteners. It depends on what level of detail you want and you want to accomplish. Gary is correct about the judging aspect.

Original screws are readily and easily identifiable because of logos cast in the heads and, in some cases, the thickness and width of the original heads are larger than those in the local parts bin. The Ord 9 for the G-741 and other manuals are indispensable resources to ensure that your truck has the correct size and type of fasteners. You can get hard copies from Portrayal Press (which are great for the shop) or electronic versions on line.

If you're going for originality, try Midwest Military in Minnesota, Vintage Power Wagons in Iowa, or Great Lakes Flat Fenders in Wisconsin. There may be others. McMaster-Carr has a very good website and app with fast delivery, if you don't want originality, although I think they do have the square int-ext tooth lock washers.

The square washers are known as "Toothed Periphery Washers". A number of sizes are no longer in production.

At one point when I was searching, I found some listed at either McMaster Carr or Graingers (I forget which). They did not carry the size I was looking for.

M Series used to sell buckets of take off bolts as they won't reuse the hardware. Good for judged restoration projects. Probably not for critical fasteners. You could give them a call.
