I go to a LOT of car shows each year. Rat Rods are really hot right now.
Personally I think they're very cool. I hate to see a good body of
a classic car or truck turned into a crappy looking rat rod but in the
same breath I see where rat rod builders usually use the body or shell
of a vehicle that's mostly beyond restoration. If that was the case with this M7
I think this rat rod is still better than seeing the old M37 rot away
in someone's field or it going to a crusher. Like my Dad used to say:
"Everyone to their own poison."

I live in Tucson and always see this on my way to church. Been meaning to stop by one of these days to see if he has spare parts and talk to him about. I always wondered what he was going to do with it, now I know.

This poor truck, what a shame. He said he took it to car shows. Poor think. May have a few good parts left on it.

I think we all feel that it's important to save, restore, or preserve all military vehicles and their history. I'm just not sure this one is doing any of those things.
Now I think I know how my Dad felt when I brought home my first junk hot-rod......cuz I'm shaking my head just like he did.

I'll have to agree with Jerry on this

I'm building a rat rod now right along side my m37B1 and m29c weasel. Its a mixture of Ford ,Dodge, Buick, semi's and household junk that's just laying around taking up space and collecting dust. I look at it this way ,its a way of doing some cleaning in the garage and basement so I will have more room to work on my MV's. Its a blast to just slap this on and that on make the welds hold but not be pretty and paint...... we don't need to worry about that. If something don't fit just right get out the pounding device and "adjust" it

. When its done I'll take great pride when some one says that is one big pile of junk. I won't have much money or time in the thing and its sure nice to say I don't give a rats backside how it looks. I can truly say that there isn't another one around that looks like it....... Thank Goodness
Jerry , when you were up at Iola just 11 miles to the East there is a car show the same weekend as Iola Military Show that has a few of these contraptions.

Paul:
I'll be at the Iola show again this summer, maybe we can sneak over to see the rat rods.

Instead of the exhaust exiting behind the doors, it's in front of the doors, the headlights do a great job of illuminating the front tires, earplugs a must, goggles too! Where, and what would someone use it for?

If I got a hold of a M37 body that was in bad shape and the frame was eaten with cancer, I'd do something similar.
I wouldn't pay $4k+ for someone else's hack work though. (Says the kid with a dangling ignition switch and other maladies with his truck)
