Denton Show 2018

Post by HingsingM37 »

It was a great time at the Denton rally here in NC the last weekend of April. Let me tell you there is nothing like camping out in your M37. Thursday evening it rained all night and nothing beats that "bursting bubble wrap" sound of hard rain on canvas. The weather was great the rest of the weekend. Everybody shared stories and had a great time. A fine collection of friendly folks. A Huey and Cobra gave rides all weekend, that along with the M274's running about and the machine gun shoot added to the ambiance.
Most of the vehicles were newer S&S, 5 tons, Cadillac Gage, Humvees as were most of the parts for sale. Of course what I call new is already pushing 25 years old LOL. There were three M37's attending and one WC52 to represent Dodge. I did manage to find some Dodge NOS two bolt exhaust flange gaskets. Many thanks to the folks who put this on and actually support the hobby. There were many vendors and a gun show. Rich S helped cook for the weekend and the food was great. I met a lot of folks from the Steel Soldiers page, some came from as far as Maryland to attend. I helped with some emergency repairs on a five ton which had a dog bone and bushing separate on the rear bogey Saturday night. I hope they faired well on the return trip home. I will be back next year for sure.

Here are some more pics of the 2018 Denton Rally. For some reason I can now only upload three per post? :

My bivouac in the back of the M37, I had about two inches of room to spare. The first night I discovered how the "headache rack" got its name. LOL.

Great photos David! Not sure I'd want to rack out in the back of mine but that looks like a great bivouac area too!

Great photos David, other than the rain and the head-ache rack, sounds and looks like a perfect rally! A real family gathering.

Yes, it was nice to see the amount of families in attendance that camped and took in the whole weekend.
