To be sure we are clear... You are referring to the left or drivers side of the vehicle. This marking would be on your right side as you face the vehicle - from the front or from the rear.
The third group, "HHB" is not authorized by AR 850-5 including all changes through 10, 25 March 1944; or in TB 746-93-1, 26 October 1964. I have seen HHB used to indicate Headquarters and Headquarters Battery in a Field Artillery unit and that was possibly a local command policy. (Battery is the Company Level equivalent in an Artillery unit.) To comply with the references cited above, the third group should be "HQ".
The fourth group, "45" is the sequence number of the vehicle in the normal order of march in the unit to which it is assigned.
