A good laugh?? It was a little hunorous at first. I couldn't believe anyone could make such stupid comments. After the first page, however, I was starting to get a little ticked off at the "interlopers" (for lack of a better word). They basically hijacked a good forum to voice their highly biased agenda in a most immature manner.
By the time I got to the end of page 3, I was more than "just a little" ticked. Such name calling! I'm surprised the thread wasn't locked at that point.
To their credit, the regular SS members showed much more maturity in their responses, even though they were also beginning to get a bit "het up" by page 9.
If you like to go off-road with your MV, it's worth reading. Be warned, however. If you're on medication for high blood pressure, take it in small doses. The "riff-raf" do not "tread lightly" on the MV drivers. As nearly as I could determine, a bunch of yuppie 4WD types are upset because the big boys played in the same sand box where they like to go with their CJ Jeeps, Suzuki Samurais, Geo Trackers, etc.

Found it....
Don't have time to read it all, but what I did read sounds exactly like what Lifer said, a bunch of wine and cheese yuppies pissing and moaning because some guys in MVs came and rode the same trails that I guess they consider exclusive only to them. Sounded like the MV guys had everything sewed and got prior permission to ride, plus had a sheriff's deputy with them, helping guide them around so as not to make a big impact on the land. A couple yuppies got torqued over this and are now mad, and acting like spoiled brats. Well that's too just too damn bad.....
Re: heading...
It's under the "Conversations" forum.Nickathome wrote:What forum heading is this thread under? I'd like to tread it.....

Yes, I found it...
Sickening, isn't it? 9 pages in one day has got to be a record for a single thread on any forum. It was up to 10 pages when I logged in at 7:00 this morning.
MHANK1 sounds like a little kid who got mad when the big boys brought their Tonka trucks into "his" sandbox and he didn't have room left to play with his Hot Wheels!

11 pages
I just checked before lunch and it's up to 11 pages now. Some real babies whining and crying on that thread. I gotta laugh at how the yuppie group can say that the MVers were ruining the trails etc. Just the act of driving on a trail will do some degredation its unavoidable. Doesn't matter what you're driving either. Just goes to show how the elitists of the world look down their noses at anyone they consider to be lower than themselves. Thats all it boils down to is they look upon MVers probably as rednecks and undeservng to partake in their activity. "Well stick it up your tailpipe Thurston!!!!!! "
I liked the post that showed the duece in the creek and then the guy said they drove off. Yet the guy in the Wrangler got stuck and blew his engine.......

What gets me is that the guy in the Rover club (who actually says he is not a member but just a heavy poster on their website who joins clubs only for a short duration when he needs to in order to participate in an event) started off by posting on his home site that he was going to register at Steelsoldiers and be "childish" because he was "bored" in addition to stating that he didn't like what he saw in photos and that he thought that the folks needed in education in "tread lightly"
Even though some folks took the oportunity to try to work together to understand each side's view, and as a chance for the 4x4 club in the area to include the Steelsoldier's MV owners in future events (as posted by some folks, think how much you can haul in a MV on a trail repair/cleanup day) as well as for the MV crowd to have a chance to learn about "tread lightly" and about new places to drive their trucks, the orignal poster (and some others on both sides) kept tossing gas on the fire: name calling, denigrating comments about each other's choice of vehicle, driving habits, etc., and in one case, a strong desire that everyone go to jail, pay large fines, or have thier vehicles confiscated...
A lost opportinuty for both sides of the discussion...

I understand your viewpoint Lifer, but I'll dissagree on having it deleted...Lifer wrote:Your last sentence says it all, Cabell. That thread should have been locked after the first volleys were fired, I think. Too bad it wasn't.
I think it would be best if the whole thread were to be deleted, now. It got way to inflammatory!
I think that there are some good posts in the thread that shouldn't be lost by deletion, and as it was stated by one person, deletion could be seen as in admission of guilt. especially if the person who has been saying that he is going to go over everyone's head at Forestry until he gets action were to do so...
Maintaining the thread also shows that the folks (management) on Steelsoldiers tried to do the right thing by having a dialog about the issues, and it serves as a warning to other folks who are planning offroad activities of what happens when folks get the wrong impression.

After giving the matter some more thought, I think I have to admit that you're probably right, Cabell. It's a shame that it drug on so long, but that tends to happen when people get their feathers ruffled, and MHANK1 was doing a lot of feather-ruffling. I see that Magnus finally locked the thread after 12 pages. Now, we can go back and do a little threshing, removing the grain from the chaff, without having to worry about someone jumping on our cases and starting pages 13 through "whatever." It took me the better part of the afternoon to sift through the whole thing again, and there is good information on both sides of the issue if one can just overlook the inflammatory stuff.
