Correct Control Cable Lengths

Post by w30bob »

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know what the correct lengths are for the;

Throttle cable
Choke cable
Fording throttle cable (2 cable lengths)

Seems everywhere I look I get different numbers and the ORD doesn't list the lengths.

thanks,
bob

Ok....in case anyone wants to know....here's what I found out with a bit of digging online using NSNs

Throttle Cable length = 40.5" (PN 77062021)
Choke Cable length = 40.5" (PN 7706200)
Fording Cable length = 55" (PN 7413012)

File that away in case you ever need to replace yours. The M38 stuff is too short.

Hello Bob , I had a fording cable that was too short. Not all too long ago I got the longer one, didn't get a chance to install it. And no I didn't put a tape to it to verify length.. Hope it's correct.

Hi Ed,

Seems people think a fording cable is a fording cable. I see guys on Ebay listing them for multiple applications, like M37, M38, M38A1, and M715...when in reality they are all different lengths and part numbers. I believe (but have not confirmed) that the fording cable lengths are as follows;

M38/M38A1 = 30" and 22"
M715 = 42" and 38"
M37 = 55" and 38"

bob
