Antenna mast

Post by bill monahan »

Hello everyone, new to this site. Just got my 1953 M37. It's in fantastic shape and runs great. I had a M151A1 for several years so I'm not new to restoring military vehicles. What I'm looking for is a base antenna mount with a 2 piece 10 ft mast like I had on my Mutt. I know its not mil spec to this vehicle but that doesn't concern me. Anyone know of anyone selling these parts? I already have a AS-3900/VRC base but need a matching antenna. I'll spring for a new base if I have to in order to match the antenna. Thanks for your help.

Your 151 had a AS-3900 or the MX-6707???? The AS- as far as I know is for the SINGARS system. The MX-6707 is correct for the M-151 and though they look the same, the 6707 had a frequency switch at the bottom for manual tuning. This on the M-37 would still be Mil spec for the Vietnam era and has been seen mounted on them.
I dont have any Extra 6707's but I do have plenty of antenna sections that are Semi gloss OD. If you want a CARC painted one, I can look around to see if I have one stashed but its doubtful as I am paint color sensative when it comes to the radio gear

Sell that AS antenna base to some CUCV owner :D

Thanks vtduece, you are correct. When I purchased the mount and mast from a guy in Kentucky (number and email no longer valid) he sent me the AS-3900 and a mast that would not fit it. So I called and he sent me an MX-6707. I said I'd return the AS-3900 but he said just keep it. So I guess I'm looking for an MX-6707 base with matching 2 piece mast.
I'll probably paint the mast anyway so I don't care what color it is, it's just for show anyway. Get back to me on a price for the mast. BTW, if anyone wants the AS-3900 it's free. Just pick it up here in NJ or pay for shipping.

Take it to the MTA show at the end of the month and trade it for a 6707. That will also be your best bet for the antenna sections!!! If you dont find any sections I will sell you a set. I would need to find a shipping tube for the sections so they would not get broken.

What color would you paint them???? The ones I have are already in 24087 for the Vietnam era.

Great idea, was going anyway to see if I can score a show special on tires from Universal. Just bought a gallon of Gillespie 24087. I'll let you know how I made out at the show!
