Well, guys, it's been a great ride, but I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep adding my comments/expertise/fool advice to the forum. I was diagnosed with lung cancer last month. After numerous tests, I finally got the "definitive" word yesterday. The type of cancer I have is not smoking-related (which surprises me). It is a very aggressive cancer that can spread to my brain very quickly if it hasn't already. I knew before yesterday's appointment that surgery is not an option. Yesterday, I also learned that I am not a suitable candidate for chemotherapy. It looks like I have "about 6 months" left.
I'll keep checking the forum when I can, but my posts will probably be pretty limited from here on out.
Lifer, I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say We're all dammed sorry to hear that! We'll all miss your experience and observations and your witty comments.
Hi Lifer,
Thats really sad news. I always enjoy your posts, never confrontational, and quick to laugh at your errors. I always admire your perspective and will miss it a lot.
Dont be a stranger, we will all look forward to your remaining posts.
Bless you,
Tim
THE NEWS ARE DEVASTATING MY FRIEND MY PREYERS FOR YOU. UNFORTUNATELY THAT IS HOW THIS LIFE IS, AND WE WILL ALL CROSS THAT THRESHOLD SOMEDAY, SOONER OR LATER, DEPENDING ON HOW THE GOOD LORD WILL CALL ON US. I JUST CAME BACK FROM THE MIDNIGHT CEREMONY AT THE CHURCH WHERE WE GREEKS CELEBRATE THE RESURECTION OF THE CRUSIFIED CHRIST, WHO WON OVER DEATH, AND PROMISED US ETERNAL LIFE AS LONG AS WE BELIEVE IN HIM. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR POSTS AS I ALWAYS HAVE

Lifer,
So sorry to hear the news. You will be missed more than you probably realise!!!! You have helped me immensely and made me laugh on many occasions. Thank you. You will be in my prayers
I know I speak for a great many forum members when I say that we'll be praying for you and your family, Lifer. I've learned so many things from your posts, and quite a few laughs as well, that words just can't say enough-like you once sent to me : "KEEP TAKING THAT HILL, SOLDIER!"
With warm regards,
Gary

Lifer,
I am greatly saddend by this news my friend. Trust that all of us will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I think Carl summed it up best when he stated you are in all of our hearts and in our trucks and will live on. I always enjoyed your posts and wit. We are brothers, now and always. Trust in Sotvens words that we will all be together one day in that convoy in the sky. Here is a hug from my wife and I.You keep us posted.
