The "Jaw"...

Post by HvyGunner »

On the front of the stock engine, at the front of the crankshaft, is the "jaw" which allows the operator to hand crank the engine. In order to remove the timing chain cover (and the rest of the greeblies under there) for eventual removal of the crankshaft, this "jaw" must be removed...

And this is where we get stuck. Do I need a 1 7/8" deep socket, or am I missing something entirely?

Also, has anybody ever seen the handcrank the operator is supposed to use?

Thanks much![/img]

Just like the pic shows! :)

Incidentally, what you refer to as "jaws" is properly termed a "crank dog." Just thought you might be able to impress your less-informed friends with that little item. ;)
