Hey Lifer, I'm still a newbie and we don't really know each other but I've read many of your posts and have gained insight and knowledge, thank you for that.

Good health is so important. Good luck on Friday and I'll keep some positive thoughts for you.

Don't go kicking off.. Take a lot of the "Mean Old Phartes club" off the Board.

Sorry to hear that you too are hurting. Get the heck better.

Sorry your truck has to go. I'm sorta there now with all the crud I'm working with medically.
Don't know from day to day "how I'm doing".

With you and yours, take care, and please stick around G741, like having your byline on boards.

Sorry to hear that, Lifer, You are going to be in our prayers down here.

Tell me in what stage of rebuild is your truck? What does it need? You already found an engine right?

Well, I just got back from the VA hospital in Augusta. At the moment, they say that surgery isn't necessary. They're gonna keep an eye on the aneurysm for a few months to see how fast it "grows" before doing any surgery. The doc also says I have to quit smoking and lose a few pounds before he operates, too. I can't smoke, I can't drink, I can't eat until I'm full, and I can't have sex 'cuz my wife says "you're in no condition." I tell ya! It sucks to be me!! :(

Right you are, Gerry! "She Who Must Be Obeyed" didn't want me to get it in the first place, but I persevered and won the "debate." Now, I can't work on it, so it has to go. She relented a little on the way back from the hospital and told me that I can get another MV "sometime," but it will have to be in good running condition.

Hey....it's time for you to supervise! You are an NCO right? Supervise...get the son or son-in-law out there turning the wrenches for ya! Don't sell the truck! Keep it and do little things on it till you can do the bigger things.

The hardest thing you'll have to do is quit smoking and try to losse weight at the same time.....geez did you look at the doc and say something like you might as well shoot me now. I don't smoke and never have, but lived with my share and it's either loose weight or quit smoking, but never at the same time cause generally quit smoking leads to weight gain, but if you do quit and beat the habbit you will be amazed at how much better you'll feel!!

We're all cheering for ya!

Hey Lifer Congrats on no surgery.
But let me relate a little story here.
I quit smoking 15 yrs ago cold turkey, no patches no BS.
It's not as hard as everyone says, I just waited till I was ready, and did it.
No BS. I still want one today as we speak, I take it back, it is hard. Just be harder.
NO hypno crap, no "little pills". Just decide, and do it. No backslididng,
like I said, just be ready and commit to it.
You'll be fine, one little ttrick I did use was a rubber band around my wrist.
Every time I had an urge to smoke, I pulled it back on the inside of my wrist and thwacked myself, it HURTS. Sort of a negative reinforcement, but somehow it did help. I know everyone is different, but I hope
some of my stuff will help.
Best of British luck to ye.
