I'm hopeless, Valve inspection plate question
Any tips for putting the screws back in the valve covers while the engine is in the truck? I do have the inside fender plate off.
Or should I just fiddle around with it until I get it.

I don't understand your problem, never had issues with this before.KenInGA wrote:Any tips for putting the screws back in the valve covers while the engine is in the truck? I do have the inside fender plate off.

You can feel for it . It takes a little time .
Don't need to remove fender well.
Then you can put a 13/16 shallow 12pt socket over the finger hold and gently tighten.
Don't forget to put new gaskets under the screws as well at the covers.
Felpro still available at local auto part stores.

Headless studs work great in this application, slightly in the way when doing valve adjustments however not bad.Wayne64 wrote:Don't know if this applies to the 230 but I use headless studs all the time on reassemblies of all manner of things so everything lines up.

Thanks for the advice rixm37. I had forgotten about the gaskets for the screws. I like the idea of headless studs too, I may try those.
I had already taken the whole fender and related off of that side for accessibility to various other things. It's nice, you have a lot of room to maneuver. Makes things easier for doing a lot of things when you take the fenders off.
