Carburetor question

Post by Wayne64 »

I received my kit from Snake River and my carb body is currently in the soup. It's been a real long time since I used a leather cup accelerator pump and IF I recall we used to pre soak them in light oil. Is my memory faulty like the carb is?

Hi Wayne,
I believe you are correct, if you have leather on your accelerator pump. The old wheel seals, etc. used to be leather too and needed to be prepped with neatsfoot oil before install which is why neoprene is a better option these days-it last longer as well.
