Oil pressure question

Post by Wayne64 »

Please don't let this new guy wear you all out, I really need input. While the engine was "sort of running" I noticed the gauge showed only a few pounds of pressure. I haven't changed the oil or filter YET and was wondering if the 230 had inherit oiling problems. I guess I should hook up a mechanical gauge before I go any further, where is a good connection point? Any and all info appreciated.

Using a known accurate mechanical gauge is good, attach the line at the fitting where the sending unit feeds on the left side of the block. A good engine will show around 30psi at idle, around 55psi at mid range with the engine at normal operating temp.
