Chrome coil dissection

Post by outpostm37 »

Any chance someone with one of the Taiwanese coils (chrome) has cut one open? Read somewhere that the primary of these coils, which I am running, has a resistor inside the primary windings to achieve the ~11-12ohm reading. If I had a known bad unit, I would get the Dremel out.

I don't think I would want to take a chance that the Chinese used non toxic oil in there, not likely they do. I think you will find the discrepancy is in the number of windings or size of the wire.. Adding a resistor would add cost which they certainly are not going to do.
