Autometer oil pressure install

Post by NAM VET »

The biggest fear I had when I first started my truck a few months ago, after a year long rebuild of the motor and other components, was wiping the bearings. I have put assorted gages in other cars over the years, usually electric. So just before my son sat in the cab and cranked it, I put a T into the oil pressure line, then ran the copper oil line into the cab, and to the gage I put on the steering shaft. I covered the engine copper line with rubber hose, and the part in the cab with some left over silicone hose, with a grommet in the firewall, thru some hole already there. We had near instant oil pressure on the start-up, and it is reassuring when I am out driving now to see what my pressure is with just a glance. No leaks, and the dash OEM one and the Autometer read the same. With 10-30 Comp Cams break-in oil, my oil pressure, hot, at cruise, stays right the same 52 psi it had when we first started it. Hot idle is 40 psi. Next post is some pictures of my m1919A4 replica I got today.
