drag link ball cup types?

Post by 06boblee »

I took my drag links apart, washed the parts- and noticed that there are two different types of cups. The book lists them the same, but they are different, one has a larger lube hole and there are two sizes of "ball recepticals'
Does one go in a special place or are they interchangeable?

Interesting stuff!
My TM 9-8031-2 shows all 8 seats being the same (7342835)as does my Ord 9, and it kinda makes me want to tear a drag link apart to see what is where in mine. I do need to replace the idler bushing ( or more) so I'll have it apart soon enough anyway. My guess would be that the seat with the larger grease hole would be positioned closest to the grease fitting.
I'm curious what you find out about this.

So now I have 3 different ones. I bought some nos Chrysler repair kits and the cups have a hole size right between the two old ones. The new one is in the middle.
