I am proceeding with the plan to transplant a 318 with the A518. The 318 will be either updated to a 4bbl and slightly stout cam or will (as budget allows) be replaced with a 360 magnum retrofitted to carb/LA heads. Looks as though this will be a complete redo - not to original but updated so I can drive/use year round.

Hopefully your build is going well. Just thought I would tell you about my truck which is running a fuel injected '93 318 Magnum with the 46RH. Kept the original NP200 and M37 axles (5.83s) and had a double cardan intermediate shaft made up. Running the same 39.5 IROKs as Will Watson because they looked so damn good on his truck. Driveline runs smoothly and the truck does fine in OD at 55/60. I think I saw 72 on my speedo once going downhill with the wind. In order to make everything fit i moved the frame rails for the NP200 back ~4" and had the driveshafts lengthened/shortened. Driveshaft angles are ok and the rear is on the steep side but not too bad. Working on a dual t-case/rear diff cooler to keep everything under control for small highway bouts between the mud.
