cab or body serial # data plate?

Post by 06boblee »

Does anyone have a cab or body serial # data plate? It is supposed to be on the cowl-passenger side under the hood. It is shown on page 15 in TM 9-8030.
I have some holes in that area but no data plate.

I have one. It has rounded corners and one line of fancy serif numbers stamped on it.

Is it the frame serial # or a different "body" serial#?

It's different from the frame serial number. I also have that tag on mine.

mine is about one inch by two inches, held on to the cowl right under the hood edge where the hood would lower onto the cab. Where it would pinch your fingers if you held them there, several inches outboard of the hinge itself. Two little screws, so it would be easy to move the tag from one vehicle to another.

Painting the Final coat of the bed undersides, and the rear frame, then will lower it onto the truck in a day or so, and finally, it will look like a military truck once again. The underside of my bed ha only trace rush on a few seams. I want to drive it out to a shooting meet in the country this Sat.

Mine is riveted. The number doesn't match the frame number, it isn't even a similar format.

I made mine as it was MIA, I think I used my birthday, a trick I learned from Bill Wincapaw, I have a pic of in the Gallery I think? I was wrong about my markings, Bill did his birthday, I did delivery date of the OD Goddess. BTW, it's not brass, but copper.

So, 8030 shows a bare tag with stamped numbers. Is this what everyone has? I went out and looked again- and I have no holes where this might mount- never had one?

That tag number doesn't mean diddly. Many had the same number, it marked a run rather than a 'place' in line.

Forget it. If you worry about DMV, remove it before an inspection...it just cornfuses them.

The only important # is the S/N on the frame in front of the steering box.
