Got some peel n stick roofing stuff for my floorboards and firewall as a sound deadening material.
Adding mass kills that empty oil drum racket.
I will put it everywhere on the underside except where the screws and bolts are.
And probably both sides of the firewall

Good idea. My last two cars were a 427 Cobra replica by Superformance, and a no-muffler straight-thru exhaust Porsche GT3. So for years I have just used ear plugs when driving my cars. If I had been more careful in my younger years, with shooting and aviation and loud cars, perhaps I would not have tinnitus and hearing loss now, and wear hearing aids.

Working on getting my new-to-me Command M37 out from Nebraska to my home in Upstate SC. Insurance equal to my USAA policy is only $180 a year. The GT3 was over a grand a year. Shipping is going to be $1100, I couldn't fly out and rent a truck and trailer for near that. But I am soon to have a knee replacement, so I won't be even driving it for a month or so after it gets to SC.

Like Carly Simon sings, "Anticipation....."

New clutch just got here.
Spent a few hours cutting and removing all the 51 year old wiring from the m43b1s dash
Attempting to get a clean slate to start with
Also going to instal that peel n stick stuff on the firewall and insulate it with heat barrier

All the interior surfaces we cant see has a layer of each product on it.
I am excited to see the difference in sound and temperature levels.
Before I had to almost shout to be heard.
And my legs felt like they were being broiled

I want this thing dialed in and reliable for winter.
Next year do the minor rust and new paint.
If the insulation works good
Maybe even a stereo and A/C?
I gotta make it comfy for my bride and I

Update
All that work was a fantastic success
It shifts with a smart click into each gear
Steers easier than my dodge 3500
Stops admirably
And is very quiet in the cab.
this is what my mechanic buddy said.
She handles nice! all that sound insulation Bill putt on does its job nicely! Took all the kids over to the fields and we found a spot to build a fort! :)

I guess I have been pushing myself too hard and now i am paying for it with back pain.
I take a bunch of tramadol so i can do a lot of work on the ambulance
And since it doesnt hurt i keep going and going.
But then when the pills wear off..
Ouchy wa wa!!!
Thank goodness that it is basically done and ready for winter.
Thanks to Danny Lautenschlager and all his hard work!

I just did the math.
The heater i put in my truck is enough for a 2000 square foot home.

Billy,

That just means you can leave the windows down and still be warm in the dead of winter.

Been using it as a daily driver.
Everything works better than new.
Pretty pleased with the results.
