MVPA 2012 Alaska Higway Convoy
MVPA Announces 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the building of the ALCAN military highway thru Canada and Alaska during WWII, the Military Vehicle Preservation Association (MVPA) will convoy our historic military vehicles on the famous Alaska Highway in August 2012.
All military vehicles from any era are welcome to join up. Drive all or part of the route. Make history again. 4 weeks. 3,046 miles. A once in a lifetime trip.
Look for more details in Supply Line Magazine, on the MVPA web site http://www.mvpa.org or contact Convoy Commander at 1-800-365-5798 or hq@mvpa.org. Look for the Alaska Convoy on Facebook too.
Like my Dodge friends say "If your M-37 will go three miles she'll do 300 and if she'll do 300 then she'll do 3000". There are M-37's going!!!
See you in Dawson Creek BC on August 4, 2012

Here's a little convoy update.
As of Nov 1, 2010, there are 30 Military Vehicles plus chase vehicles and camp followers signed and paid up for the 2012 Convoy.
We are working on the route details and there will be plenty of Dodge power on the Convoy.
Keep watching the MVPA Supply Line Magazine for more details. And you can follow the project with others on Facebook at "MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy"

MMMM. I'd have to flatbed my rig to the staring point, fuel cost, ect...if I could get some sponsor's I'd do it.
Any chance of getting the History Channel, National Geographic, or Discovery involved to document I wonder?
Sponsors, Maybe that's not so far fetched...? .

I'm trying to make it my goal to finish my truck by then...not that I can get time off work to go, but it's a good goal to set anyway...
M37s are HMMWV in my world!
Re: MVPA 2012 Alaska Higway Convoy
Yeah, it is an awfully long way to go just to begin, but that said it would be quite an experience. I think either my M-37 or GPW would be up to the task with just a little prep. However I have always wanted to fly my L-19 to Alaska. It would be tempting to make the trip then and just follow the convoy by air with my flying MV. Or maybe several warbirds in an aerial convoy!

This would be a great incentive for me to get my rear in gear and finish my m37b1. But its still a heck of a drive out to the starting point from Wisconsin

This was "closed" to any more sign-ups as of August 1st. I missed out-didn't get signed up because my $ was going for parts. Oh, well, frees up my schedule for other events but I'd be lying if I didn't say I am disappointed....
