tight tappets dont make noise .....valve adjustment time? also if your mixture screw needs to be out more than 2 1/2 turns you could have a worn throttle shaft, poor sealing of intake gaskets or a cracked manifold

its surprising how fast they can wear. specially when introduced to dusty gravel roads. those pins are part of my pre trip oiling as well as both sides of the bell housing, brake, tcase linkage roll pins and throttle links. not to mention all the nipples

the gasket I got has a slight profile like a little U was cut out of a rectangle to make it square. the tail was uneven @ the u cut and I installed the long side towards the outside of the cowl. you say you dont have a heater but do you have a heater hose running from the back of the block to the port on the lower rad hose ? the heater hose helps move heat from the back of the block. culprit two could be the water distribution tube. when inserted the tube should fit tight at the front of th...

looking good ! are you going to port match that intake before buttoning it up ? mine was miles off, I also massaged the radius to each runner under the carb base as it was very sharp. all work was left ruff to aid in the atomization of carters coarse droplets. every horse counts on these 6000lb beasts

Had the 37 out for the first time in over a year. did a 80k round trip with a load of parts. did a mix of hwy and heavy city traffic. at one point the speedo read 50mph running 4.89s and 900r16s
