Re: 1953 M37
Not worked on old girl much. But have got a few things done. Managed to do a bunch of body work on rear bed. Not perfect but pretty good. Dents and dings show character especially for an old truck. Got the bed painted on mounted. I may never get this truck done at this rate

Re: 1953 M37
Finally got some more done. Only had chance to do a little over weekend. but did manage to get the cab tub painted tonight. Looks good at least in the shop. Will know better once outside in the sun. Have plenty of light in shop but painting requires even more so I usually paint outside. I only paint...

Re: 1953 M37
Some good progress today, Got the dash all sanded and primed. Had to weld up about 10 screw holes in the dash that I'm sure were not there originally. Its amazing how many holes get drilled in something that's 63 years old. I did leave all those that looked like where a data plate should go. I found...

Re: 1953 M37
Back to work on the old girl tomorrow. I think for now, since I have no fuel can mount, Ill mount the mirror on the windshield pivot like the driver side. Later, when I do the fuel can mount I may make it like yours m-37bruce, That looks neat and I can use some of the same parts I made. Tomorrow wil...

Re: 1953 M37
The ones I made copying the driver side I don't think will work with fuel can there. Of course mine is missing the fuel can mount and everything so I didn't think of it. Oh well, Ill still use what I made but if I install fuel can mount may make a different arm to clear it. Pics of the Canadian vers...

That's way cool you came here. Yup very blessed, My family has long history around here, something like around 300 years worth. Couple cool things, My great grandfathers fishing camp was were the inlet is now, until the storm in 1932 washed it away. My grandmother was Dan Trimpers secretary {trimper...

Re: 1953 M37
The mirror that was on the driver side used the windshield pivot point. That cast piece that mounts on side of cowl. Not sure where it was originally. But didn't look bad. So I made one for other side just like it. If wrong at lest the same. :D Summer my favorite time of year. My cousin crabs and I'...

Re: HELP ! Lights not working.
Glad your making progress towards repairing it. I striped all the wire out of mine as most of the insulation was gone. I did switch over to Packard connectors. I know not original but the douglas connectors were so rusty when I cut it all out I didn't want to put them back. You could also just switc...

Re: 1953 M37
Neat trick for bending flat bar tight. I have a bender for flat bar/solid rod etc, but it wont bend it tight like say 3/8". So I use {2} 4" x 3/8 bolts, or whatever size loop you need. Like could use 1/2" bolts for 1/2" loop. Clamp them in the vise with stock material between the...

Re: 1953 M37
This truck had one driver side mirror, not sure if original or not. Either way my wife wants a passenger side mirror as well, She is only 5'3" so looking over tailgate is about impossible. So I decided to make brackets for the passenger side same as driver side. Of course had to straighten driv...
