You didn't mention your engine-if you're upgrading it I'd likely go with a modern radiator coupled with the tranny cooler. Easier to procure than finding an M37 radiator that you can trust.

Pictured is a MUTT pintle. Trailer chains to the M37 went to the tow shackles when I was serving in 1977.

I go through a lot of oil too. I've lived with it since I don't have the funds for a rebuild. It's not blowing smoke nor a gushing leak. Just the same mystery as yours.
