Valve Adjustment info from P15-D24
After much googling this morning, I found these instructions. Seems legit to me and the website has other info on our 230 flatheads P15-D24.com Valve Adjustment Proper valve adjustment is critical for quiet and efficient operation of a flathead six and is the first line of defense against burned val...

Re: TDC detection (beaten to death topic)
I'll have to puzzle this out. I'm not in a hurry. I'd rather not remove the radiator and I sort of added mission creep to this as it is. The original goal was to replace the interface gasket between the two manifolds and fix the heat baffle. Now I am up to my arm pits in "nice to do" items.

Re: TDC detection (beaten to death topic)
I was told that 6 and 1 both reach TDC together.
How are you guys getting to the crank flywheel to mark it?

TDC detection (beaten to death topic)
I'm adjusting the valves now and forgot how tedeus it is to keep track of TDC. I know about the plug above number six. When watching the valves move, can I not just wait for them both to stop moving and then adjust? Or must it be TDC of the compression stroke? It seems to me as long as both valves a...

Things like that will make you say bad words. I think there two sayings for this situation, so choose one if you wish:
1. When you have eliminated the likely, look at the unlikely.
or
2. It's always something obvious and stupid creating the problem.
It's great to finally find the solution.

wow, that's a lot of cash. If it's what it seems to be, I guess it's fair. It does have nearly every optional thing on it.

Re: Driving speeds?
I had considered the gear swap a few years ago since my truck is AF and we all know they don't offroad, just putt around the airfield and parades.
But decided against it as mine was running as is. I'm a firm believer of don't fix it if it's not broken.

Dealing with leaking windshield bottom gasket
When we restored the truck, the windshield frame got all new rubber. The issue is the cowl is not uniformly smooth on top due to age or something else. What have any of you done to prevent wet shoes inside the cab when it's raining? I do try to avoid driving in the rain but it does happen sometimes....

I think a siren button also. The buzzing could be a relay.

Re: Radios for a USAF truck
Radio use for actual talking would probably be limited by the range those units have. There maybe a handful of hams in our club and one of them has working military units. I might have a GRR-5, I'll have to look. I might save the PRC-10 set up for the M151 I'm currently restoring. The VRC-10 stuff i...

Re: Radios for a USAF truck
Oh boy. First, my truck is marked up for a squadron from the Korean misunderstanding so that's a consideration. Next....WOW, $450 for a PRC-10 and power supply?? I have one of those sets in the shed. I guess that answers that question! I do have all that VRC-10 stuff, it's heavy and I don't think mi...
