Re: Steering Problem
Yes 06boblee, Good comments and makes sense on the front-end locker piece. Sounds like a good way to end up with broken thumbs. I sent a feeler out to the local military museum. It may be that from time-to-time they are contacted by people trying to figure out what to do with stashes of parts or old...

Steering Problem
I bought an M37 several years ago as a hobby project. Finally, I'm getting started on it after a several false starts. One of the things I have been wondering about is the steering. For some reason, the truck pulls heavily to the left; so bad it takes a lot of strength to get it off the trailer and ...

Re: New Cummins Repower Option?
I guess this isn't so new. There is a video that was done on the subject at SEMA a couple months back. Advance Adapters is teaming up with Cummins on the project. Lots of talk related to Land Cruisers and Jeeps, didn't hear M37 mentioned! Here is the video-about 18 minutes of talk: http://www.4wdmec...

Re: Rare LWB M37
I have one of those long-bedded M37's. It has a winch and a front and back facing PTO which I thought was unusual. It also has a double frame behind the cab. I have speculated it must have been a welding truck and someone pulled the bed and put a shop-made extension to an M37 bed on it. I have also ...

Custom M37 Rims for Bigger Tires
I have five never used Boyce Equipment 16x10 rims with M37 bolt pattern (one slightly dented from shipping). Among many other sizes and tires, the Michelin 325/85/R16 XML fits on them which can be sourced from surplus dealers. I was going to go that route, but changed my mind. Rims are in original b...

Re: Wanted Fiberglass hardtop, door mount spare carrier, whe
Picked up a new M37 fiberglass hard top, a used door mounted spare tire carrier, some winch parts and other bits from Vintage Power Wagons today. It all fit in the back of a Dodge Caravan. Boy, those guys at VPW are really great to work with and it was a great experience strolling around their 19 ac...

Wanted (found) fiberglass top, door spare carrier, wheels
Hello, I will be driving through N. Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin to Green Bay in the next couple weeks. If anyone has a complete fiberglass hardtop, a complete door mounted spare carrier assembly or a couple spare Budd rims with any kind of tire to use...

Re: Thinking out loud about my new M56....
Good feedback; I had some NDT tires on my first M37. I recall once hydroplaning and sliding sideways for a few moments on a wide radius wet paved curve. Fortunately the truck slowed down quickly on its own and came under control. That was a lesson learned. I have some NATO pattern tires (like Monkey...

Re: Thinking out loud about my new M56....
Thank you Tbone and JimC for the advice. I am going to keep the bed I decided. The original floor was extended with sheet metal and does not match the original corrugated floor. I may be able to live with that or find a section of floor from a parts truck should one come along. It looks good enough ...

Thinking out loud about my new M56....
Hello all, I am new to this group and have been focused on my Unimog and CJ5 for most of the past decade up until last week when the nice lady in the cafeteria at work told me her husband wanted to speak with me. A couple emails and an in-person visit later, I bought a 1962 M56 with PTO winch and ex...
