Tap for front bumper nutplates

I'm installing an LU-4 on my XM-708.
What size tap do I need to chase the threads on my winch bumper nutplates?

Re: High altitude

No, it isn't the same thing. I said density ratio. You are reporting pressure ratio. % oxygen doesn't change with altitude. It remains about 20.95%. And I screwed up. Got off on the wrong line of the chart. Wish I had said more so I could take it back too. :-) 8000' density ratio 0.7861 12,000' dens...

Re: High altitude

Craig, 25% and 44% are the density ratios of the standard atmosphere for the two altitudes you mentioned. I ignored temperature deviations from standard atmosphere and ignored humidity.

Re: High altitude

On a standard day, your power is ranging from 25% to 44% of sea level power. Less on a hot day. Have you considered a repower with a larger displacement engine?

Re: Most Practical Modification Thread

Juan, I'm glad to see you are still here. I too, have been around since the Big-E days, though I don't post much.

Re: Super Swamper IROK

I'm probably missing something. I've never been able to find a directional Power King larger than a 9.00x16.

Re: Super Swamper IROK

W. A. is correct. Backspace has only a very minor effect on Akerman angle and doesn't change it much from stock.

Re: Super Swamper IROK

Yeah, it already does that (for slightly different reasons).
I've had ruts grab the front tires and yank the steering wheel out of my hands several times.
Only caused it to turn over a couple of times though. The one downside of the 37's is that they are easy to flip.

Re: Super Swamper IROK

Sounds like a spring lift would stop the top fender rubbing. (not a problem on the rear of the 708 -- they don't have rear fenders)
On the downside, I tend to run at very high off-road speeds, so steering is important.
What odd steering effects are you seeing?

Re: Super Swamper IROK

P.S.
Backspacing on the rims I was planning to use is 4.43 inches.

Re: Super Swamper IROK

In the rear, is it dependent on backspacing?

Re: Super Swamper IROK

Is the rub at the top, due to articulation?
Or at the front and rear, due to turning?

Re: Super Swamper IROK

Thanks for the tip. I like tall tires with narrow treads.
Much appreciated,
Jim

Re: Super Swamper IROK

True about the SX. If they had a directional tread, I would be more interested in them.

With the bbc, I used the stock fan and water pump.
