Re: LU 4 Winch Clutch Shaft Plug

I don't remember now, there is a spacer of sorts under the top of the shifter handle. I put in new seals, plus the lock ring on the bottom of the shaft, but just didn't have room for the plug you tap in to seal the whole thing. My TM' s are over at the "hanger" or motor pool as we call it,...

Re: LU 4 Winch Clutch Shaft Plug

when I restored mu LU4 about two years ago, pulling the shifter rod out was a nitemare. Someone must have banged on it with a hammer to move the clutch. Got a replacement I think from VPW, and then separating the main housing halves with a rusted fused minn shaft/dog was just as difficult. Getting t...

Re: M37 Battery's

my truck is actually an M42, Command version, I think originally from Dodge and not a field modification based on the serial number. I don't know but perhaps my under seat battery box was made for bigger batteries than the 25 amp trucks. So about two years ago, I put in the biggest batteries that I ...

Re: Window channel adjustments

My windows will roll down fairly well when my doors are closed, but to roll them up, I open the door and then pull up on the glass while winding the handle. Less stress. And I also drilled small holes in the bottom of the doors, they tended to full up with water in the rain. And after my truck sat i...

My truck's new home

As I have previously posted, when we moved to a smaller home in Lexington, SC, a near suburb of Columbia, it was soon apparent that it would be necessary to sell my M37. It was a bit ironic, because our new home's garage has a taller ceiling and door, and for the first time since I acquired my truck...

Re: NOT selling my truck!

Well, for the first time since I brought my truck home in the summer of '17 it was "under cover" last night. I drove across town to the Columbia airport, which is really small, where the Doolittle Raiders trained, and pulled into a sort of huge hanger just off the airfield. One side is for...

Re: WTB: Restored M37

oh, I recently moved from Rock Hill, with my own really nice M37, and had it for sale until a week ago, keeping it now since I have a place to park it under cover. Good luck with your own search. Hal

NOT selling my truck!

A good day! When we moved to a smaller home a few months ago, it was apparent that I just couldn't keep my truck anymore. No room on the driveway, and the HOA would not like having it "down" with parts off for any length of time here. So put it up on a web site, a few interested chaps, mos...

Re: Specification of Brake Drum Retaining Screws

everybody has their tricks to loosen rusted fasteners. Me, I put a propane torch on them, then satiate with Kroil or similar, do this a number of times over several days, whack on the surrounding metal to shock the threads, sometimes I spray then some Freeze-off oil on them, and usually have good lu...

Re: Master Cylinder Vent Valve

if you power bleed with a Motive type device, just be sure to turn the valve off, or you will pump the brake fluid out instead of thru the brake lines at the wheels. something I found out once, was messy. hal

Parade

what a great, fun day. We have recently moved to Lexington, SC, which is near Columbia, SC. Heard about a Veteran's parade recently and entered, so yesterday my son and his wife and 8 and 5 year old sons rode in the back, my wife with me in the cab, slowly thru Downton Lexington. So many people hold...

Re: Selling my M37/M42

I have thought about that, inexpensive parking nearby. Oh, interesting how folks want to send a cashier's check, even for more than my asking. Always "...will have my wife send check..." Usually from Texas, so I suppose my truck would be across the border before the check returns as invali...

Re: This old truck video shows a good overview of our M37's

I do some gentle off roading, and would never ever subject my truck's drivetrain to the extreme stress of lateral loads on the axles and diffs like this driver did. Just asking for breakage. But I enjoy watching videos of other's M37 variants. hal

Re: Selling my M37/M42

I am in no hurry, pretty handy to have a pick up when when we just moved to a new home, lots of trips to Home Depot or the Nursery. I wish I had room to keep it. Just don't.... But sure running well here in the hills of Lexington. hal

Re: Selling my M37/M42

hah, the scams are here! "...are you original owner?" or, "I send you check, you cash and I pick up vehicle...." "...text me pics of truck... after I put 16 on site. "...my wife like truck, buy with check.''' Yeah right. Hal
