06boblee wrote:Should you paint the inside of the steering knuckle? If so, what kind of paint?
You can, but not necessary.

If you do you need to use Glyptol paint .

That's the Red coating used in gear boxes etc.

Re: For the guys with 4.89s...

I have no trouble shifting any of my transmissions.

Sounds like you need more practice.

There's no reason to grind any gear, unless clutch, or trans.
Needs work.

Re: Heat Riser and hot re-starts

If you can close the heat riser I would do so, or just a little will work. But most of the time there froze and won't move. 99% sure your problem is a dripping carb(flooding) and needs a rebuild, Or very least the float level checked. Vapor lock condition wouldn't start until after it cools down, no...

Re: Ins & Outs of Transfer Case Rebuilds

I think I would find another unit, weld and regrind the parts if unattainable.

Charles and Frank are Spot on.

Just to much heat is these gear boxes for a bushing to survive very long.

Re: Ins & Outs of Transfer Case Rebuilds

My fear is that the backlash is due to worn gears! We'll soon see. I'll have to post a photo of the hole in the floor made by the rear driveshaft at some point. I'm sure it was rather exciting when it entered the cab  ! I doubt you'll find any gear problems. Most likely the bearings have wor...

Hey John,
You should really watch the company you keep! :)

That's a great group of friends there.
Dave sent me a copy of that picture right before Wayne posted
It on DPW.com.

Re: 9.00 x 16 Tubes What replacements are available ?

I bought new flaps and tubes a couple of years ago from one of the bigger dodge sites. Not sure if it was VPW or MWM. Possibly another. Anyway, I have gotten around to stripping and painting my rims this month, and when installing the new tubes, they have a marking on them saying for radial tires. ...
