Re: How to letter the truck correctly for...

Thanks so much! His discharge to the reserves from Germany was Nov 1969. We were both very much into motorcycles and that is where our friendship started. He rarely talked about his time in the service, but was proud of it and happy he had served. I learned so much about life in general from him tha...

I think it was 3rd Armored-7th Army, he wore a Spearhead patch up to the day he died. I got the other info off his DD214 his daughter provided to me. He served in Germany.

Re: Where to get flat headed steel rivets?

Closest I can find from a major supplier in small quantity now. The last decade has been hard on a lot of suppliers. http://m.grainger.com/mobile/search/tubular-and-semi-tubular-rivets/rivets/fasteners/ecatalog/N-8mmZ1z0nn0iZ1z0nn05Z1z0nmzyZ1z0nn0e?navigatingFromPage=%2Fsearch%2Ftubular-and-semi-tub...

Re: Where to get flat headed steel rivets?

Hi just me, I check McMaster (I always do), but no tubular rivets with an oval head......all theirs are countersunk. thanks, bob Odd. Must have stopped stocking them I bought a box years ago from them. Might still have it around somewhere. BTW, they were called escutcheon pins, not rivits when I bo...

Re: m37 hard top

When I get home, I'll shoot some pics of my homemade hard top. Might give you some ideas on a DIY top. That glass top does look like a nice option, however.

Re: Were any M37's painted Flat WWII OD?

My truck was a repaint with MIL-E-52798 Enamel, Alkyd camouflage Dark Green. It was just a repaint in 1987 and has been outside the whole time. (I was given a new 1986 gallon of the paint with the truck.)

Re: My truck is home.

My plans are to completely rewire it. Do whatever maintenance needs to be done. Remove the electric wipers and put the vacuum wipers back on and drive it. then, when I can get the parts, repair the winch. The truck is too cool to restore. They are only original once, so very little of what is missin...

My truck is home.

Got the new to me '53 home last night. Drove it on the trailer and off at the house. Once around the block and then parked it for the night. Spent the entire day today doing an inventory of what is good and what is not good on the truck. until I can make an entire new wiring harness for the truck, i...

Re: BeadBuster XB-450

I would be afraid it would damage the split rings as it uses them as its fulcrum. I have several home made bead breakers that work with various levels of ease or success that don't ever touch the wheel itself. The easiest to make is the "garage stud" bead breaker. You bolt a long 2x6 to a ...
