Re: Got a little progress made yesterday.

I think the engine is sitting too low between the frame rails. Clearance between the differential and the oilpan maybe an issue unless you add some lift to the suspension. I see you are no using m37 axles so I may be wrong. The other thing is that glow plug replacement is a PITA in a 6.2, and I thin...

Re: 1980 Paris - Dakar Rally

They moved it since 09 to South America, due to terrorists threats to the participants in some countries on the way. Lucky for us, The Dakar has been crossing our landscape every year since then. This year is the first time the Dakar touches Perú, were it finished. Coming back to the images, I think...

1980 Paris - Dakar Rally

I accidentally found this video about the Marreau Brothers who competed in the 1980 Paris Dakar Rally with a Renault 4L, but check on the video at 0:32 secs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-XylS3c8bc Is that a modified M-37? (I know it's french for the yellow headlights) or a Dodge Power Wagon? I c...

Re: Charles D Briggs Jr. aka Lifer

My condolences to you and your family. I'm going to miss your father's posts, his sense of humor and all of his interventions in this forum. I've been reading his post since 1996, so I think I know him in some way. As Josh said sad for him and you, but gratefull that his suffering has ceased. Thanks...

Lifer, Sad to hear about your health issues, I always enjoy your posts and now I realize that I've been reading them for more than 14 years. I've learned a lot of English with them. Hold on my friend, we are all wimps when it comes to pain, don't pay attention to the missus, you stay here where your...

Re: Tyres, Tyres, Tyres.....

Are BF Goodrich or Yokohamas 315/75-16 available in Australia? Those are sweet tires to mount in our trucks, the BF Gs needs a wheel modification due to a rim protection rib that's not compatible with the budd split rims. The Yokos don't have that problem. You can't imagine the huge difference betwe...

Re: "Budd" M37 project to air on SPEED channel

Charles, I've just spend like two hours looking at the pictures of "BUDD" and reading the story. I can only say, awesome job you've done there. I wish I can afford all the good stuff you've shoehorned into that truck. Amazing truck that couple got for themselves. That couple has good taste...

Re: Change of plans, AGAIN!

I know what you mean, down here we've been paying $1 per quart for years now, it hurts a lot. HaHa Diesel is somewhat cheaper at $0.80 per quart though. Good catch on that engine, It surely beats the twin turbo (twin supercharged or not) V8 in reliability and economy. Smart choice the ZF against the...

Re: Getting Dual wheels apart $@(!*

I don't know if it will help but I've loosen some tough wheels that looked welded to the hub in the past by loosening the nuts enough and then driving the truck around the block a couple of times, first to the right then to the left. I've driven in eights in a parking lot a couple of times too. It n...

Re: Change of plans, AGAIN!

That's exactly what I was going to tell you to use. The ZF5s is the same trasnmission I have in my bench right now to mount behind the 6.2 in my truck (plus a freshly rebuild 6.5TD that's next to the bench in a stand). I'm saving now for the married t/case. (not sure if Stack 3 speed o Adv. adapters...

Re: M37 with Hercules Diesel engine conversion

So, that's where my mistake came from, I have the manuals and since the rpm drop between 4th and 5th was not so great, I thought it was true.

My bad.
