Re: OEM Mechanical fuel/Vac pump, vs just Electrical pump?
I second going electric all the way. I put in a low pressure Facet pump on the rear crossmember and found some "American Bosch" 24v military wipers which are as unabtrusive as the original vacuum wipers. They work well but I have to park them manually

Re: A tale of two fuel pumps
It sounds like you are doing exactly what I have. I'm not sure what the psi is of my 24v facet pump, but I replaced the 12v pump the fire dept had installed. I used the steel lines to the factory fuel filter location and installed a chromed Holley fuel pressure regulator and there. I sprayed it the ...

Re: Bedside questions
They are spot welded to the sides. A couple of years ago I bought a set of inner fenders off of eBay. The seller drilled/pried them off the side panels. The fenders on my truck were butchered by the fire dept I purchased it from. I haven't tackled replacing them yet

Re: Need special wrench to remove distributor lead?
I needed a tool for the distributor leads so I made one out of a deep socket and some 1/4" rod. I just welded an L shaped piece of rod to the socket and cut a big slot into the socket. I found it to be way handier than crows foot wrenches. If I hadn't needed the tool right then, then buying the...

Re: Stalling when engine heats up
When I first got my truck, It barely ran after I put new batteries in it and first cranked it over. After a month of limping around, I sent the carb our for a rebuild and the distributor out for a pertronix ignition.. Today I would do all that work myself, but then it made sense. However, it has run...

Re: Rust prevention inside rims
So far I have stripped and painted three of five rims. not sure I'm going to get to the Frey lube before I finish this project. I emailed Frey lube, and they said the Prema lube was recommended for our trucks. Thats fine by me. It is way cheaper than the Supra. Ultimately, if you had access to a pro...

Re: New Owner and I Already Broke It!
Just as a preventative measure, check your oil if you are running the original fuel pump. The rubber parts in it are not ethanol compatible, and if a diaphragm gets cracked, gas can flood your crankcase, thinning your oil. Make sure your oil doesn't smell like oil. Lots of owners change the mechanic...

Re: 9.00 x 16 Tubes What replacements are available ?
I bought new flaps and tubes a couple of years ago from one of the bigger dodge sites. Not sure if it was VPW or MWM. Possibly another. Anyway, I have gotten around to stripping and painting my rims this month, and when installing the new tubes, they have a marking on them saying for radial tires. I...

Re: Rust prevention inside rims
Good points Bob. I was going to put in an order tonight for some Freylube, but you got me wondering about that. On the other hand, I am on my third rim breaking them down for paint stripping, and every single one has required me to put a jack on top of the bead and under my 4runner to push the bead ...

Re: New Owner and I Already Broke It!
I'm putting my money on a spark issue, with no info about your truck to base that bet. When I bought my truck in 2009, it barely ran, but it was a combination of clogged up carb and bad tune/timing. I sent the carb and distributor to M-series rebuild. The carb was cleaned and rebuilt, and I had a Pe...

Re: Rust prevention inside rims
Thanks for the link to Frey Lube DJ. That seems to be the product I was wondering about. Jess, I think you did a better job than me. I'm getting the rims clean down to metal and priming them with an etching primer from Eastwood paints, followed by their rim paint. The paints are from spray cans, so ...

How about something like this, https://www.superior-industries.com/zin ... t_199.html, instead of the etching primer I have been using?

Rust prevention inside rims
I have been removing the rims on my truck one at a time and stripping the paint off them. On every rim, the worst rust and pitting is between the locking and the rim, inside the tire. It is the only area with any significant rust. I was wondering if there was any lube/grease which could be applied t...

Re: Error in shop manual TM9-2520-232-35 for NP420 Transmiss
I have no info about the measurements. I was wondering if gear cases are regularly painted? Yours looks nice, but does it serve a purpose? It seems like every square inch would be coated in gear oil, so rust should not be an issue.
