Stovebolt T5 transmission swap?
I saw some discussion on here from 2008 about the T5 transmission adaptor Stovebolt makes, mostly I see detailed information on Jalopy Journal and it's with cars or vehicles not like an M37. If I didn't want to change my gearing yet, or at all, I thought maybe the tranny swap and a transfer case coo...

Re: ZDDP and flat tappet engines ??
For anyone looking this up more recently, there was a Jay Leno's Garage episode about Archoil and their Friction Modifier, basically it's a better option than ZDDP for older engines. I have been using it in my 240Z as well. It's boron based rather than Zinc, much better in lab tests.

Oh I looked those up, similar style and tabs. I had no idea about the tabs and had to read up on this stuff, I had to get the commercial ones too if I wanted to put anything in the truck as well.just me wrote:Great find and nice touch! (I have 52 AZ plates for mine with the 53 tabs.)

canadian trucks came with a front lic plate mount.
Thanks, yeah maybe I can find one of those. My friend has a Canadian truck but I don't see a mount on it, but it's on a ranch and never leaves so no plates.

Re: Pertronix for M37 12V? Also curious about 4.89 gears
Yeah I obviously plan to take my time in it haha, I am near the coast and will probably cruise to the beach to surf with it. I am in the North Bay near SF, so Tahoe is a bit far and I thought about Death Valley but that seems pretty far at that speed as well. There are a few dirt road trails north o...

I got these cool 1952 CA plates for the M37
I haven't received the truck yet but I know I will have to go register it and get it CA compliant, so I figured out what plates I needed and got a plates dealer to hook me up. I am going to have to mount them to the front somehow, the back is no problem since someone bolted the old ones to the tailg...

Re: playing with differentials
I was reading about 4.89s, is that a must have swap if you plan to travel on the road between areas a lot? I see there is basically only one place to get the gears, I am getting ready to do some work and I was thinking about it. Any advice is appreciated.

Pertronix for M37 12V? Also curious about 4.89 gears
The M37 I'm getting is 12V, I want to put electronic ignition in it like another car I have. What is the best option in this case? I saw something but it was listed for a 24V system. I'm not very good with electrical but I wanted to point my friend the mechanic in the right direction since they are ...

Re: What color is this?
That color is known as "Wrong" Green. No matter what you do to match it, it will be wrong. And it is wrong for the truck. (The closest color to it by my gamma on my monitor is Brogdex Green. We used to use it to paint the cabs of steam locomotives because it was close to SP Cab Green.) Th...

Re: What color is this?
808morgan, It's really hard to say, the green seems brighter, as least along side the FD red, it might be the Marine Corp shade, but still that is only a guess? Are there any Depot Rebuild Data Plates anywhere, they sometimes give a bit of info? Have you entered your truck in the Registry yet? Wish...

Re: What is this number in my Canadian M37 hardtop?
Oh yes, I think I have the info to order the card. Thanks. I won't be buying my friend's Canadian truck, I'm getting one that was also a forestry truck and has been mostly restored.06boblee wrote:You can still get build sheets from Chrysler for the US trucks, don't know about the CDN.

Re: What is this number in my Canadian M37 hardtop?
Unfortunately, the records were destroyed sometime after the units left the service. Many CFR numbers have been reassigned, so anything in the system now would be for something else. Same with most of the early deuces and other stuff of that era. I don't think Build cards are available for the Cana...

Re: What is this number in my Canadian M37 hardtop?
That number is the CAR (Canadian Army Registration) number which will be stamped on the left front frame horn if its original for the truck. The CAR later became the CFR (Canadian Forces Registration) number. At one point the CAR/CFR would have been stencilled on the doors. Canada did not use hood ...

What color is this?
thumbnail_IMG_3540.jpg For those of you with a keen eye for the colors, this 1952 truck was primed and sealed on the outside and this color seems to be the original in the cab and engine bay. I would like to spray it the same color. This truck was in service with forestry. It's been worked on for t...
