Re: 24v mechanical voltage regulator adjustment

As Elwood mentioned already the place to go is your TM9-1825B. Start with paragraph 42, which is a general troubleshooting program. Generally speaking voltages that high (31 volts) will cause some visual signs inside the regulator. If I recall right, the voltage upper end is like 28.4 volts. Its pos...

Re: Tires

Hi Rick - happy summer!
I'm interested, pm me with details.
When you do your disk brake modification, are you changing the hubs etc, or swapping out the complete axle(s)?

Re: Tires

Hi Kaegi
Who carries the 10.50 STAs?
Do you know the load rating?
38" sounds good.

Tires

Hey everyone- it's finally summer here in Vermont, so I hope you all are also now enjoying your summer (last year I think our summer was on a Thursday)! Anyway, so I'm recommissioning a 51 M37 and I'm in the market for some tires. Currently it has some McCreary super lug tires, but as far as I can t...

Re: Help! My truck won't run!

Although backfiring through the carb will be caused by incorrect timing, too lean a mixture (bad adjustment, vac leak, etc), as well as sticking intake valves, will also give the same symptoms. By all means, go to the basics, and set it up "normally " i.e.: clean and gap plugs, check point...

Re: Transfer case shift levers

I'm curious, did you have to overbore the shift levers to accept the spring bushings?
My ord 9 indicates that the original shift lever bushing OD is smaller on the shift levers than the OD of the spring eye bushings. (0.877 vs 0.998)
Thank you, D

Re: Transfer case shift levers

Sounds simple enough, is there a shackle pin that is better suited for this than another?
Thanks for the suggestion!

Transfer case shift levers

Hey Everyone! I'm rebuilding my shift levers, and I see that the levers are bushed with bronze bushings where they pivot on the pivot pin bolted to the side of the transmission. The pin itself is worn, and I plan to replace it with a new pin. I wonder though, are the bushings available as a spare pa...

Ammeter vs Voltmeter

Hi everyone I'm looking for some input from members using their g741s. What I'm curious about is preferences concerning ammeters vs voltmeters. I recently acquired a fairly early M37 (within the first 800 produced) and the few wires in it would indicate that it had at some point had an ammeter in it...

Re: Blue Locktite on internal engine fasteners?

As some people have already said, blue ( or red) loctite is not needed by design of these engines. Honestly neither is likely to create a problem if sensibly used and it is unlikely that loctite thread locker will migrate any place in the engine, such that damage will result.
Best of luck, D

Re: Anyone used Poly-Slide spring liner?

Vintage Rolls Royces, are similar to M37s in a number of ways: They weigh 6000+ pounds, have six cylinder engines, they can feel underpowered at times (but do we really need to go 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds?), they are rugged, they are made in such a way as to be constantly repairable (although a prewar...

Re: Anyone used Poly-Slide spring liner?

Don't know anything about poly slide liners, but consider this: My day job has me professionally restoring pre war Rolls Royce and Bentley automobiles (1919 - 1939). The leaf springs on (most) all of those cars use tightly fitting leather "gaiters", only exposing the very ends and the cent...

Re: No Fire on cylinders 5 or 6

I had a similar situation with one of mine, which had not been run for many years. It was (as I am sure many would guess) sticking valves! Intakes. Compression tests are good, followed by leak down test to determine location of compression loss, if need be. Good luck with that, and let us know what ...
