Re: Changing points
[ has someone bean playing with V8's? That was a practice that I had used in the thirty plus years working in the automotive/aviation industries as a flat rate technetium. every movement cost you time and lost time doesn’t pay the rent. By taking a moment to mark and take notes of different things y...

If you were to pull the distributer it really is not all that bad. Remove the cap with wires still attached pull it back tie the cap out of the way then mark the clock position of the distributer and mark the clock position of the rotor cap when it comes out of the engine as it will turn a few degre...

Re: Painting wood?
Wayne the product I was talking about is used on the newer military/civilian trucks, but it is also the same material that is used on decking and a plethora of other things. The boards are available many sizes and widths that could be ripped and milled if needed at the lumber yard/Home Depot ,but I t...

This product can be cut, edged and drilled just like wood and will take paint and hold up great in all weather conditions with ...

Re: engine parts needed
Your best source for internal parts will be your engine machine shop's source, better pricing than the parts store. This will be more precisely built current production parts; NOS stuff may have a cheaper price tag, but just remember not to let a salesman shoot you a line; you WILL get what you pay...

Re: engine parts needed
If you go to a reputable machine shop they can take care of any engine repairs/overhaul. These engines use common doge 230 parts internally and they can get anything that is needed. If you want to do all the work your self buy all the TM's available for you truck including G741 parts manual and do w...

Re: Wheels Not Balanced ?
Joe I will agree with you that M37's mostly run at speeds 50 and under, but if a tire is out of balance even at those speeds there is a tremendous force put on your steering components. 1/4 0z at 55 mph is equal to 25 lbs of force. I put all new tires on drove it and had a vibration wanting to start ...

Re: Checking stiff steering
It sounds like you may have steering gear issues. If you can not work the front wheels lock to lock by hand with the front wheels off the ground it is likely to be binding in the gear! That could be a good starting place to look. By disconnecting the steering gear too see if you can then move the fro...
