Re: Another green thing to work on, 53 M37
Thanks for that picture, I sort of figured my line was not placed on the caliper correctly. These brakes were never used so the parts are just put together for transport. They weren't even very rusty til they sat out under a tarp all winter. in the process now of cleaning and painting. Did get the o...

Re: Another green thing to work on, 53 M37
Progress, I had to call Charles Talbert to ask how the hell to get the brake backing plates of the rear axle. What a pain in the arse!!! Won't be using that backing plate again! Going to try to save the other side but man, those rivets were never planned to come out in a million years. Pictured belo...

Re: 1953 M37 value
I fully agree between 12-15 but the deal with any kind of antique vehicle is that it is only worth what someone is willing pay for it in the time frame you are willing to wait for that amount. And once you announce a price STICK TO IT! As soon as you lower the price one time people will know ...

Re: Another green thing to work on, 53 M37
As promised here are the pics of the brake disassembly. It is an interesting compilation. The passenger side had old shoes but it has an outer hub seal with short axle studs, the drivers side had brand new shoes with no outer hub seal and longer axle studs. You can see the pics of the drums and how ...

Re: Which 24V Electronic Fuel Pump?
I did not know that, when I bought my 37 it came with brand new still in the bags wiring harness from Vintage Wiring. It has the Douglas connectors! I thought if you are going to the expense of buying the new harness why not convert to the Packard. Changing the stuff on the vehicle is not really all...

Re: Another green thing to work on, 53 M37
Got the bed all apart and stored away for the time being, got the beast turned around and wedged back in the garage backwards so I can get to the rear brakes. Going to get the disc brakes on that I bought from Dcook a while ago. If anyone has pictures of how this setup goes together that would be gr...

Re: Another green thing to work on, 53 M37
The main problem with the bed bolts is that there is very little left of the Phillips head on top. And if I was going to destroy the bolts by cutting a slot in them it was a LOT quicker to blow them off. I ended up used a hot wrench on them.  I have three big cans of Kroil and all of...

Re: Another green thing to work on, 53 M37
Here are some pics of the tank. I found an epoxy repair at the bottom that appears to have been covering a drilled hole. This was not really leaking until I started banging it around on the forks of my tractor. You can see some holes under the straps. I popped the top off of it and there is a 1/4&qu...

Re: Another green thing to work on, 53 M37
Got the gas tank out this morning and started to drain it, Yes, there is actually STILL liquid in it. Notice I said "liquid" and not gasoline. This stuff is probably at least 20 years old! I have seen some bad gas but this takes the cake. I put some in a pan and tried to light it on...

Re: Rebuild time on the 230 flat head engine
That is what I would use. There has been a lot of discussion about whether zinc is actually needed in the older engines along with sulfur but I look at it this way, If they are still leaving a little in the diesel oils they are doing it for a reason, to keep those very expensive big diesels alive. T...

Re: Which way is the winch cable fed on?
That winch also came off of an M-37, it was a later year but I don't remember now what year. I will; have to look back through my posts and see if I can find it. Thanks for the manual numbers. I have all the digital manuals I can find but there are a few that are just not available in digital withou...
