Re: Leaky Fuel pump diaphragm

I use a Facet 40164 fuel pump with a Holley 12-804 fuel regulator and they work great. Chose these because a number of others recommended them. Charles, does M-Series happen to sell the plates to go over the hole in the block? Jess, do the Wexco wipers fit into the existing hols in the M37 windshield?

Thanks for all of the replies!
Do people tend to paint the transmission the same silver as the engine, or OD?

Silver Engine Paint

Does anyone have a recommendation for a silver engine paint? I don't want anything that will look too metallic/glossy. Mine is a 1954, and I figure that something more on the grey side will look more period correct.

Thanks

Re: Speedo pinion oil seal

I found an O-ring at a hardware store that seems to fit. I don't know the dimensions, but the bin that it was in was labeled "No. 8."

Re: Handbrake question..

Regarding how the part may have gotten bent, the transfer case weighs around 200 lbs (the crate mine came in is stamped "210 lbs," so that would be with the crate). It is very lopsided and it wants to fall towards the side with the bent part. Perhaps at some point it was out of the truck a...

Re: Speedo pinion oil seal

Bob, that sounds right to me.

Elwood, that's a good point. That also reminds me that this is a good opportunity to put new grease on the speedo cable. What type of grease is preferred?

Thanks

Re: Speedo pinion oil seal

Thanks Bob, but I think that one of those numbers must be off as 11/32 ID by 27/64 OD should result in a thickness of .040. I think I'll just go to a shop and see if I can find an O-ring that fits into the end of the pinion nut. On the other hand, it might be better to just not install a seal, becau...

Speedo pinion oil seal

I can't seem to find a replacement. It's part L, here under "Transfer case and hand brake linkage":

http://www.surplusjeep.com/M37/group_8_transfer.htm

It's just an o-ring, so does anyone know what size it is?

thanks

Re: M37 driveline drag

I've noticed the same thing with my truck. I have not installed lock out hubs, but from what I've read on this forum they make a noticeable difference. That would suggest that driveline drag is considerable overall. On the positive side, the drive line drag should help a little with braking :)

I enjoyed the rally. It was good to meet some of the guys from this forum. Thanks to Carter for the G741 hat! I'll be sure to wear it when I go back next year.

I watched a guy in my club hand-start his M37. So it is possible. But it seems to be something best left for 19 year old soldiers :)
