I am guessing you saw the $79 duece and half top in heir latest surplus catalog. I am wondering the same thing. But the desert tan canvas would clash with my OD paint :)

Serial #

Drivers side frame rail forward of the axle. Look for the stamped serial number there....Glove box doors and data plates are frequently changed...

As to correct year I am not sure I would bother if it was much effort to change it...unless in NY you could qualify for antique/classic plates....

Another approach

Buy your self a half inch stamping kit. grind off the offending numbers and stamp on what ever you need.

The serial number on my frame looks like is was stamped by a guy who had a couple of drinks at lunch....

Both have received routine maintenance and have been garaged virtually all their lives. The Honda was made in USA. I has had one problem a Electronic Control module failed. ...

I have an Sonoma (GMC version of S-10) pick up and that tank will not work. I believe the tank you are thinking of came from Blazers and Jimmys

Switch

It is a pressure activated switch but I doubt if it requires as much pressure to activate as the brakes themselves need to work. I had overhauled the brakes (new cups in the wheel cylinders and new rubber in the master...) on mine shortly after I first got her. A few months later after sitting for w...

Another thought on non directional

I to have heard about non-directional being used so the enemy couldn't track you. I think it may also have to do with the fact that non-directional work equally well (or poorly) going forward or backward.

Trust me having two tractors, Ag treads are absolutely damn near worthless backing up!!

Vortec

I have a GMC Sonoma 95 bought new. About the only thing on the truck that hasn't been a problem is the engine. However it isn't any power house. It is only 262 cu inches so you aren't gaining much there. Torque is only about 250ft-lbs and I can't find the curve but based on experience it is NOT at t...

It very possibly was shipped to Tooele for overhaul from almost any place. and it is unlikely any record about a specific overhaul exist.

In addition to sanding the bumpers check the side of the engine block under the carb to see if there is an engine rebuild plate...

I had the displeasure of having 5 of the ambulance versions M886 in my unit. I cannot begin to describe what a nightmare they were maintenance wise. They hated damp weather...you could hear the distinctive whine of a Chrysler product starter all over the motor pool as the cranked and cranked and cra...

What tools/equipment do you really need??

There seem to be several new member who recently got M37s. They represent a significant investment...but like all hobbies you have to have the tools....However you most of us cannot afford every tool made. Also I am assuming that you will not be overhauling the engine or transmission... so... I have...
