Re: swap in 318/A518(46RH)?
I have found that this M37 has 4.89 gears! :D :D :D If I WERE to install the A518, that would give me an approx. 3.38 in o/d. The average annual temp in my part of Maine is 54 degrees. Am I foolish to think 3.38 is TOO far? Michael Verst is running the A518 with a 360 and 4.89 gears and cruising th...

Re: swap in 318/A518(46RH)?
If you go with a centered output you will have vibration due to compound angles in the u-joints. If you go that route then a CV or redesigned driveshaft similar to a M151 front shaft where the u-joints are designed out of phase to compensate for the compound angles. Not True, If the engine is insta...

Re: swap in 318/A518(46RH)?
As long as the angles cancel out it will be fine, but if it's too short you might end up with a double cardan drive shaft to make it work. I'm sending you a PM with a link to an image.

Re: swap in 318/A518(46RH)?
A passenger side drop NP241 will connect to the front axle OK, but the rear output is centered and the rear drive shaft will be on an angle.

Re: swap in 318/A518(46RH)?
The 1990 V-8 with a A518 and a NP241 Transfercase will put the output yoke almost exactly in the same location fore/aft as the stock setup, but will be a centered output rather than offset to the passengers side.

Yea been there it's just easier and seems safer on the side of a hill or up a boulder to not shuffle the feet.isaac_alaska wrote:left foot spread across clutch and brake, right heel holding the pedal to the floor, right toe taps the starter. The old "make my truck run" dance

Re: Aircraft switch for fuel pump
NamVet and I use the same switch. I like the ability to kill it quickly, and it gives me the ability to keep the fuel pump off while re-starting the truck after it stalls and is a little flooded. As soon as she starts I can then turn the pump on and have the truck back on the go quicker. I usually d...

Re: Power steering mount issues
I had a bolt to bracket break once, but it was due to the bolt working loose, so I installed a longer bolt, added loc-tite and a jam nut to keep it tight.

Re: Anyone used Poly-Slide spring liner?
I've read where others have used UHMW (Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight polyethylene) in thin strips (1/16" to 1/18")to gain better spring flex and prevent metal to metal rubbing and rust. They report great results.

Re: 1953 M37 Cummins build / Dodge 2500 swap
Looking forward to progress details and hopefully some pictures. However keeping the M's 112 WB while fitting a 6BT in it will be an interesting fit. Even to get a 6BT into a Power Wagon with it's 126 WB and hood room required some effort.

Assuming it's still a foot pedal starter, just leave the power/ignition switch off and crank it with the starter pedal.
