The drop-in (complete 3rd member) is purely Chrysler Corp, not Spicer, Dana, or anybody elses design.

Yep the differential has to come out. No biggie, mark the placement first of the ends before removing the caps. Easy to do that. Yep. The right tools are harder to find, and not at your usual hardware store.
