Re: Manifold Nuts coming loose
a few things to consider: 1. are the intake and manifold botled together well and are the mating surfaces to engine prefectly aligned with each other? 2. are you using at least grade 5 nuts and the correct washers? 3. Even the grade 5 yhou get these days is chinese junk so I buy grade 8 for that job...

looks great! Keep it! just slap a winch on it and charge toyota owners for rescue missions. question: how does the crankcase breathe without the oil fill tube breather line hooked up? If you want to keep that style of carb you could swap out the fill tube to a WW2 style that has a miniature oi...

Re: Hubs
just throw a hydravac booster on the stock brake system and it will be as good as anyuthing else. learing how to adjust the stock brakes is important too. takes some learning buts does not costs 1000s of dollars like convertng everything over does. plus stock diffs are way stronger than any D44 and ...

Re: Steering knuckle rebuild procedure?
it is 25 to 30 foot pounds. some books say 27 ft lbs to be exact. some run 2 bearings but not recommended for offroad. ther is a reason all closed knuckles are set up with the bronze cone on top. strength and stability.

Re: Are all Dodge 230 Oil Pans the Same ???
I believe all the light duty trucks have the same pan. there might be variances in the drain plug size. the way they bolt on never changed to my knowledge over the entire life of the 23 inch engines or the 25 inch engines

Re: stock piston composition ?
you could just run it stock for now and then if you come up with the parts switch them with engine in the frame and see if there is any difference. The big crankshafts in these engines are always making torque. the crank in a mopar flathead six weeighs more than a straight pontiac crank. I would gue...

Re: stock piston composition ?
that is intersting educational stuff. thanks for posting it. But I think the point of all that is to gain more torque. I personally dont think you need to look for torque gains on a 265! they have a 4 3/4 inch stroke as it is. they are torque monsters. They idle smoothly at 325 rpms. I would run sto...

Re: stock piston composition ?

cant answer the question but I have one. What will you gain by doing that? I have driven 265s and they are beasts compared to the smaller flatheads
