Re: Win some, lose some....

I guess it's been too long since I have looked for tires. Not needing any right now but geeze! Ebay - Tire Deestone ...

Re: NDT Rot!

Yeah, that's some heavy cracking going on there. I have seen modern tires with small little cracks that don't go very deep in the the rubber. I am told they are only cosmetic. Is there a date on that tire anyplace? It could be 50 years old.

Re: M-37 trans gears grind

Glad you got it fixed. Sounds like your truck got a lot of wear like mine. I am re-doing my whole truck and a couple of months ago took the clutch and flywheel out. The clutch lining was the worst I have ever seen. I don't know now the truck was still moving.

Re: SC M37

Really nice work. Was your engine sleeved when you disassembled it? It was sleeved. There was a rebuild tag pinned on the side of the block from the 1970's. I am guessing back then it was bored and standard sized sleeves were installed. I took the block to an older machine shop, the guy has worked ...

After a number of weeks, the transfer case is done! http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/3568/medium/Trans_Done1.JPG And now installed back in the truck: http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/3568/medium/Trans_Installed1.JPG I got the engine back from the machine shop. Re: replacing NDT tire myself???

an endless effort and expensive truck to own
- But anything good is an effort to own. :D
Wife won't know about that until I am safely away to Daytona.
- Uh Oh, you sure the truck will be there when you get back home? Maybe compensate with some jewelry?

Re: Looking for a part

That small metal tube I think you are talking about is just a normal big flare fitting that screws into the fitting on the side of the tank. I don't remember the size right now.

Re: Source to buy a 24-volt headlight for M37

I am going to replace my old 24v headlights with a newer conversion. Many of the 24v headlights still around are old and I find they don't last too long. I will use this kit but just haven't got that far along on my truck yet. https://www.rallylights.com/hella-7-round-e-code-hi-lo-conversion-headlam...

Re: replacing NDT tire myself???

Glad you could get someone to work on it. When installing the locking ring, if you examine it well you can see that it is seated in the rim. Not to say that it won't still come out. That's why I wrap a heavy chain around the tire and rim when I inflate.

Re: replacing NDT tire myself???

Hal, I have done these wheels a few times and have the tools.

If it wasn't for the forecasted snow this weekend I could drive up there with the tools. It doesn't take much snow or ice for SC roads to become a train wreck.

Re: SC M37

With the steering box done and the clutch bracket with new bushings the brakes now are working. It’s time to lower the truck off of the jack stands it has been on for two years. http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/3568/medium/Tire_Snip_1.PNG http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/3568/medium/Tire_Sni...

Re: Transfer Case Rear Output Preload

All is good now. I got the output side done and sealed up. I put all the original shims in plus an extra one for good measure. It was loose and I could pull the flange in and out. I took out the extra one and had the original set of shims - not enough preload. The inch pound tool barely got to 5. I ...
