Re: Master cylinder recommendations

It's been a long time since I did it but I went and looked at mine and I didn't have to bend the shaft. Joe

Re: Master cylinder recommendations

I changed mine over to a NAPA 39075 which is the same bore,1 1/4", as the original. It was for a 1978-1980 K 20 Chevy pickup. I had to put a couple holes in the frame for the lines to go through but it was an easy replacement. Joe

Re: Rope tie down on canvas top

Thanks Cal Gary for the reply. More tie downs would help a lot. I don't have the racks on my truck so they're always visible except behind the spare tire mounted in the bed. Joe

Rope tie down on canvas top

I just got a new canvas top and need to know the best way to run the rope on the back grommets to the tie downs on the body. I got it tied down but it doesn't look as neat as I think it should. It seems like there should be more tie downs.

Re: Piston Rings

The bevel on the inside of the ring goes up on both rings. I think the theory is compression pressure from above will force the ring against the cylinder wall. Joe However if there is a dot on the ring the dot goes up.

Re: Turn Signals

Check the flasher, if you have an indicator light on at the t/s switch you must have current to the switch. Are the turn lights on too?

Re: Original Brake Lines With Funk ??

When replacing the wheel cylinders, take the pistons out and coat them with silicone brake grease to prevent rust and sticking.

Re: Vale Carter Davidson

So sorry to hear about Carter's passing. He was very knowledgeable about the M37. I made up a snow plow mount based on his and it has served me well. Condolences to his wife and family. Joe

Re: 4-wheel operation

You won't feel much difference going straight in 4 hi on a hard surface, but try turning sharp and you'll know it's engaged!

Re: Read my spark plug, give me your thoughts

It looks like its firing great, the ash around the outside is probably from burning a little oil. 200 miles wouldn't be completely broke in yet. The rings should seat in as you put more miles on it. If it's running well I wouldn't worry about those plugs. Joe

Re: Need help finding TDC

With the civilian type distributor it is possible to have replaced it 180 degrees off. Take number 1 plug out and crank it over until you feel it coming up on compression, then remove the plug above the piston on number 6 cylinder and use the dowel to find top dead center. That will have number 1 cy...
