Re: Past Members Search.....

I've been a lurker with a few questions over the last 10-11 years or so. Raising kids has kept me busy, but I just put insurance back on my M-37 for hopefully full year of driving! Took me 5 years to rebuild the engine, thanks to kid #2. Winter before last was so warm I worked outside on the engine ...

Re: FS: T-245 engine with early trans in SE MI

My apologies - it is not a T-245 - it is stamped P25*xxxx - a plymouth block. It was a military rebuild pulled from a truck in stock military condition. As far as I know, it is the same except for the oil tube mounting area, which is a little different.

FS: T-245 engine with early trans in SE MI

Engine turns freely, engine, clutch and trans all need rebuild. Mostly bare block but have a bucket of small bits. $500

Have a complete set of NOS gears, bearings and synchros for the early trans, $250 with the engine, $350 separate.

SE Michigan, 48103.

Thanks,

Paul

Re: T245 oil pressure relief valve

Yep, turns out the old one was stuck in the block - I thought it had fallen out, but obviously not! I used a screw extractor to get it out.

T245 oil pressure relief valve

My new oil pressure relief valve is a spring and piston - the shop manual shows the same part. My T245 doesn't have enough depth for the piston and spring - looks like it had a spring and a ball, but it has been so long I don't remember (and I probably lost the original parts). What's the story? Two...

Historically, there appears to have been at least one vehicle mount for just an R-392. I have seen cases of people taking the combined R-392/T-195/GRC-19 mount and cutting it down, but that seems like a shame. You could rig something up to mount an R-392 in the back of the truck - I'd want to mount ...

I tried a bunch of things to remove these darn bolts, then gave up and drilled them out. I was able to do it without messing with the countersink too much. I replaced them the hex drive counter sunk bolts from the hardware store.

Anyone had an issue with a tight camshaft on assembly? I had to tap it in maybe not so gently, and am worried there is either a bent cam or now a damaged bearing. I doubt I hit it hard enough to bend anything, but there were signs of a damaged bearing before I put the cam in. Glad I saw that pic for...

ITT seems not to be in business, or at least their web site is dead. I wound up having a local tire guy out in the country get bias ply tubes - time was very short due to the police tagging my M37 for impound till I get it back on tires and re-tagged. Grrr... hate living in the city... The same tire...

In my neck of the woods, it is a relatively common two part epoxy with metal fill (I think). Supposedly pretty good for fixing casting, broken threads, and other odds and ends. Hardware and auto parts stores most places in the US should have it.

Where did you get this water pump? Did it include the fittings you show in the picture?

I'm getting my block back from the machine shop shortly, so need to figure out my accessories.
