Re: brake shoe adjusting
Thanks for that answer Charles. The brakes on my 52 m37 which I bought in October seem weak. I am thinking of doing a complete build of all shoes and brake cylinders. I have already replaced the leaking master cylinder. It is comforting to know out of round drums are common. I can feel my brake peda...

Re: Start up after 5 year set
I recently sent my carb and distributor to M-series rebuild. I had the carb refurbished and had the electronic ignition module installed in the distributor. Since I had both services done, I cannot say which helped the most but my truck runs great now. I also put in new plugs and wires. I am at 8000...

I was wondering more if the air gap could move to a high place in the line and form a blockage of sorts, kind of like what happens with some house heaing systems. The air seems to be contained in the glass body of the fuel filter, even though it is vertical. The filter used to be horizontal before I...

Transfer case shifts from 2HI to 4HI on its own.
I don't know if the following is a problem or indicative of one in the future. My truck seems to jump into 4HI a lot on its own. I push the lever forward to 2HI, and before I know it it is back in the 4HI position. I am thinking of rigging a strap up to keep the truck in 2HI. Do any of the gurus out...

Air bubble in fuel filter
I installed a Holley fuel pressure regulator on the bracket where the original fuel filter was installed. I have a clear glass fuel filter mounted in a vertical fashion below it. The truck runs well, but there is often a large air bubble visible in this fuel filter. The top 20% could be air. I would...

I was just installing a trickle charger on my truck. The negative disconnect was off and when I tightened the negative nut on the battery, I got a load spark when my wrench touched the battery box. I am a little concerned now and I think I will try to trouble shoot whatever is trying to drain my bat...

When I bought my truck from a fire dept, it had no tailgate. I am not interested in painting it and I was not going to buy an expensive tailgate, so I built a frame and put four red oak slats on it. It looks sharp. I put whatever zirk grease that was in my gun on the hinge. I have a lot of work and ...

I just put my distributor on last night and got her to fire up! I have not worked on a distributor since high school 25 years ago. It was really easy. I pulled the #1 plug and installed the distributor. I then put the #1 wire on a plug and grounded it to the frame. It sparked just when the compressi...

Cuz has it right. I see no reason to run a line all the way around the engine and up by the exhaust. I installed the pressure regulator where the original fuel filter was tonight. the factory flexible line went right into the base of the regulator. All I need is a tubing bender and I will install th...

I currently have a pressure gauge on one of the two outputs of the fuel pressure regulator. Would I gain any accuracy having it nearer the carb. The pressure in a fluid should be the same throughout the system. I like the idea of running a steel line along the firewall. Would you use a steel line fr...
